MANILA – Curious about New Zealand food, culture, and tourism? What better way to satisfy one's curiosity than by experiencing all these in just one venue?
The embassy of New Zealand in the Philippines will be holding a three-day trade fair to allow Filipinos to experience a little bit of the country.
"If you can't go to New Zealand, we are bringing it to you. By introducing people to New Zealand food, wine, it's a nice little taste of things to come," said New Zealand Ambassador to Manila Reuben Levermore.
Dubbed "Experience New Zealand," the trade fair will be held from June 20-22 at the Glorietta Activity Center.
It hopes to acquaint Filipinos with the best of what the country could offer from dairy products to wines and meat and even its culture and tourism.
"This year, we've extended the food and beverage fair to also incorporate the travel component because we would also like to promote New Zealand as a tourist destination for Filipinos. I think there's a lot of potential for that. Really, it's a chance to experience New Zealand and also include in the fair some New Zealand culture," Levermore said.
The embassy reported that trade between the two countries has grown in recent years. Based on the data from 2013, the Philippines ranked as New Zealand's 11th largest export destination. Around 80% of New Zealand goods exports to the Philippines are food and beverage products.
The fair will feature about 20 exhibitors of various products, including the world-renowned manuka honey.

"We wanted to have the widest range of products because we're very proud of them, not just the wine, the food, the dairy products, the meat products, the honey, the ice cream," he said.
And staying true to New Zealand's slogan of "100% Pure," Levermore said Filipinos who like to travel will have the chance to get a glimpse of the country's stunning scenery.
In fact, Levermore said the trade fair's featured partner, Singapore Airlines, along with Destinations Unlimited, will offer a variety of New Zealand tour packages covering Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown, North Island, South Island and sites such as the Hobbiton movie set and the Lord of the Rings' Edoras location.
"This presents a great opportunity for Filipinos to explore the vast attractions New Zealand has in store. Whether it's the stunning scenery, adventure tourism, the great wine and food, or even the Lord of the Rings locations, there is something for everyone," he said.
