Rihanna generated a lot of online buzz on Tuesday after she showed up at the 2014 Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards in a see-through gown.
The singer, known for worldwide hits such as “Umbrella” and “Diamonds,” was photographed wearing a Swarovski-encrusted Adam Selman sheer gown, which showed her breasts and underwear.
Rihanna was given the Fashion Icon of the Year award during the event.
According to a report from Billboard.com, American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour presented the Fashion Icon of the Year award to Rihanna.
“I can compensate for all of my weaknesses with fashion,” the singer said during her acceptance speech, as quoted by Billboard.com. “Fashion should never be frustrating, it should be fun.”
Internet users worldwide took to Twitter to react to Rihanna’s see-through gown, with most of them praising the singer for being “fearless.”
Others, however, thought that her outfit was “trashy” and “lacked class.”
