MANILA, Philippines -- Asian Carmakers Corp., the official importer of BMW cars in the Philippines, recently announced the arrival of the all-new BMW 3 Series at an especially built tent for the event in Fort Bonifacio Global City.

Leading up to the unveiling, Asian Carmakers rolled out pristine examples of each of the previous five generations, owned by members of its official car club, spanning 35 years of 3-series history. In the Philippines, it was first introduced in 1993 and has since commanded the biggest volume of all BMW models sold in the country.

“If there is such a thing as a quintessential BMW, it is without doubt the BMW 3 Series. Backed up with its impressive heritage, innovations, aesthetics and driving dynamics, we are confident that the Filipino market will greatly welcome the All-New BMW 3 Series just like its predecessors,” Maricar Parco, Asian Carmakers president, said at the launch.

Like its predecessors, the sixth generation hopes to set new benchmarks in terms of sporting prowess, elegance and comfort, and become the world’s best-selling premium car sedan.

This vehicle has grown in terms of dimensions with a wider track and, as a result, more impressive on-the-road presence. The classic three-box design is reinterpreted with a sweeping bonnet, short front overhang, long wheelbase and set-back greenhouse. Underneath, its intelligent lightweight body construction allows optimized airflow through the underbody structure, while Air Curtain technology
– making its debut –improves air flow around the front wheels.

Inside this provides increased interior space; amounting to extra leg room, 15 millimeters of additional knee room behind the front seats and eight millimetres of headroom.

In addition to size, the new body features improved torsional rigidity and ride comfort while retaining the agility and driving dynamics it has been known for.

The 3-series will be available in two variants: the 328i, a new four-cylinder petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo technology; and the 320d, a high-performance, economical diesel engine. Both engines will feature the new Auto Start-Stop function to improve fuel efficiency as well as BMW ConnectedDrive range of driver assistance systems for advanced infotainment.

The 320d will come in three different lines – the Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line, while the top of the line 328i will solely come in Sport Line.

The BMW 328i and BMW 320d Sport Line come with eye-catching exterior features in high-gloss black -- from kidney grille slats to black inserts in the front apron, to exterior mirrors, and the tailpipe embellisher. Seventeen- or 18-inch light-alloy wheels – depending on the engine variant – will be fitted. The standard sports seats can be specified in a choice of three upholstery variants and four colors.

The 320d Luxury Line will make use of chrome all around. Eleven fine chrome slats can be found in the front apron air intakes. Special 17-inch light-alloy wheels will be exclusive to the Luxury Line. A high-gloss chrome trim strip – which extends across the full width of the rear apron – and its chrome tailpipe embellisher will be distinguishing marks behind. High-gloss wood strips and seats with distinctive stitching and a choice of two upholstery materials in four classically elegant colors will be exclusive in the interior.

Finally, the 320d Modern Line will make use of aluminum, underlining the contemporary character of this line. The BMW kidney grille will have aluminum slats, and double trim strips for the air intakes. Seventeen-inch turbine-style light-alloy wheels will be equipped.
