MANILA, Philippines – Boracay and El Nido have been consistently named as two of the country’s best destinations, but Internet users are more interested to know more about Puerto Galera.
The northernmost municipality in Oriental Mindoro is the most searched summer destination in the country, according to Google Philippines, which released its “Summer Zeitgeist” list on Wednesday.
The local unit of the Internet search giant noted that many Filipinos turn to the Internet for vacation destinations as the summer season nears its end.
Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte is the second most searched destination among users in the Philippines, followed by resorts such as the Bohol Beach Club and Boracay Regency.
Antipolo resorts Bosay and Loreland Farm made it to fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Splash Island, a waterpark in Laguna, remains popular as it held the seventh spot, followed by Canyon Cove in Batangas and Subic Resorts in Zambales.
Rounding out the top ten is La Virginia Resort, which is also in Batangas.
Puerto Galera is a popular tourist destination in the country, particularly during the Holy Week.
Early this year, CNNGo named Puerto Galera’s The Canyons as among the best dive sites in the world.
