MANILA, Philippines -- Sculptor Daniel dela Cruz on Sunday opened his largest exhibit titled "Doorway to Decision" at the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo City.

The exhibit is the artist's 10th one-man show since he started displaying his one-of-a-kind metal sculptures at the Ayala Museum Artistspace in 2007.

He has also done exhibits with galleries in Singapore and, most recently, in Fabrik Contemporary Art HK, a gallery in Hong Kong that carries distinguished artists such as Takashi Murakami, Damien Hirst and Andy Warhol, to name a few.

His latest exhibit covers both indoor and outdoor venues of the Pinto Art Museum ground given the ample space provided.

“In a way, this is my breakthrough exhibit… of really getting into the mainstream of Philippine art,” said dela Cruz, who thanked neurologist and art patron Dr. Joven Cuanang for inviting him to display his pieces at Pinto.

Dela Cruz's works feature a deft blend of different metals: brass, copper, lead, iron, bronze—even nickel—which he bends, molds and carves by hand to create fluid works of art.

In "Doorway to Decision," dela Cruz, a Philosophy major at the University of the Philippines, "explores the importance of making the right choices when faced with many options, of living with these choices and embracing the consequences of making them."

“To truly live life is to face the doorway to decision, and to step in,” he said.

Pinto Art Museum is an art space located at #1 Sierra Madre, Grand Heights in Antipolo. A venue for modern and contemporary art exhibitions, the museum has presented several major art events and shows.
