MANILA -- Rachelle Ann Go drew loud applause for her performance at a recent concert of American songwriter Scott Alan in London, where the Filipino singer is currently based for the ongoing 25th anniversary production of "Miss Saigon."
Go performed Alan's "There It Is" during the first night of the musical theater composer's concert series last Tuesday. Held at Hippodrome Casino, the show ran for four nights until Friday.
A video of Go's performance was uploaded on YouTube by user Stacey Ricket over the weekend.
Over the years, Alan's songs have been sung by several Broadway and West End performers, including Liz Callaway, Jonathan Groff, Sutton Foster, Norm Lewis, Samantha Barks, and Filipino Lea Salonga.
Go plays the hardened bar girl Gigi in the West End revival of "Miss Saigon," which originally starred Salonga as Kim, along with 13 other Filipinos, when it first opened in London.
