MANILA, Philippines - Just in time for Mother's Day, Regal Films matriarch Lily Monteverde shared her beliefs about what makes a good mother.
In an interview on radio dzMM's "Rated Korina" on Thursday, Monteverde, fondly called Mother Lily in the showbiz industry, said being a mother is all about continuous love and devotion to her children.
"Being a mother, love and devotion, it's important. Husbands and wives, they have differences but the most important is the family, the children," Monteverde said.
Monteverde, who has been dubbed the "dragon lady" of movie industry, said she switches character when she is at home.
"I feel that sometimes I'm a great pretender because sometimes I act like a child when being a mother. Because if I have five kids, iba-iba ang character nila so I always blend. I always feel that it's my kids who spoil me, not me who spoil them. I feel that I'm always a brat," the film producer said.
"As a mother, I can say I'm not also a perfect mother, wala namang perfect. But deep in me and deep in my heart and my mind, I always hear that the most important is (being a) mother. Mafi-feel mo sa puso mo, if you feel it in your heart, it's heaven," she added.
Even if all her children are now living their own lives, Monteverde said she remains a loving mother to them.
"It's forever, being a mother," she said.
Currently, Monteverde is promoting Regal's Mother's Day offering "The Mommy Returns," which stars Gabby Concepcion, Pokwang and Ruffa Gutierrez.
It is now showing in theaters nationwide.
