MANILA, Philippines – Right after Kate Middleton revealed her gown during the royal wedding last April 29, many brides-to-be around the world have expressed their dream to wear something like her dress on their own wedding day.
Even the local designers here in the country got inspired to create copies of Middleton’s dress.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Filipino designer Frederick Peralta said the the gown’s design will surely influence the fashion industry in the upcoming days.
"It is a trend.... it is classic, timeless... Bumabalik naman kasi ang fashion," he said.
For the local designers, the conservative and simple features of Middleton’s dress will probably outperform the Hollywood-inspired style, which is currently trending.
"Everybody rediscovered using fine lace, hindi masyadong sexy," said another Filipino designer Edgard San Diego.
A number of Middleton-styled wedding gowns have already been created but various designers have put their personal touches to it.
Aside from the Duchess of Cambridge’s bridal outfit, San Diego believes that people will start using tiaras, tear-drop earrings, and fashionable hats that were evident during the royal wedding.
San Diego, however, stressed that in order to come up with a nice gown, proper materials should be chosen.
Nevertheless, what’s actually more important for a bride to wear on her wedding day is a smile, which will really make the bride look beautiful. – Report from Jasmine Romero, ABS-CBN News
