It is inarguable that Kim Chiu is well on her way to becoming an icon of her generation.
As she turns 23, we find out why she now has more reasons to celebrate: Her reign as primetime princess, her success as a multi-awarded actress, an endorser, trendsetter, and now a woman with grown-up sensibilities, Kim is ready to take on the world.
Gone is the awkwardness that comes with the inexperience and the naïveté that teenagers possess. Instead, here is a Kim who exudes confidence that comes from knowing what she’s capable of and where else she wants to go—a star in the truest sense of the word.
She has arrived: As a lead actress whose shows have all reigned supreme on primetime television, as a youth icon with a huge following all over the world, and as a style star who inspires and sets trends.
It’s easy to see why so many people have found themselves charmed by Kim (she has one of the most loyal fan bases in the history of local showbiz!): She’s a girl next door with a candid spirit, the queen bee in high school, the girl you’d trade places with in a heartbeat. She’s got the perfect combination of style and substance, of passion and ambition.
“If there’s one thing I learned, it’s the importance of focusing on your goals and not letting yourself be distracted by anything—love your work and it will love you back,” she says.
Kim’s life now is a stark contrast from how it was for her growing up—as a child, she would move to a new city often, living with relative after relative, depending on who would be kind enough to accommodate her and her siblings; in her seven years in showbusiness, she has gone around the country and to many other places in the world, with people fawning over her, all hoping to experience a piece of that Kim magic.
Though her journey to the top wasn’t easy, her life might’ve been peppered with heartaches and disappointments, but through it all, Kim has no regrets. “I’ve grown so much in terms of family, and life in general. I’m just 23, but I have so much experience. I’m happy I’ve overcome everything at such an early age,” she says.
A treat she’s long been looking forward to now that she’s turned 23, is a trip to Europe, one that she intends to embark on once "Ina Kapatid Anak" wraps up, and her schedule permits her to leave that country for a while.
