MANILA, Philippines – Actress Heart Evangelista sheds her sweet image as she appears on the cover of a men’s magazine, wearing nothing but a white, low-neck tank top and a pair of black panties.
And it did not stop there: the former Kapamilya talent was also seen wearing sexy underwear in a behind-the-scenes interview with Esquire Philippines magazine and “social news” website Rappler, where Evangelista admitted that she has started to “like other things.”
This, she said, is different from when she was younger, when she was “content” and “didn’t want to want anything else.”
“Let’s just say that I was a little bit bored with my life at the time,” said the actress, as she showed off her toned body.
“It’s when I turned 28 that I realized [that] what I do today will make my life ten years from now,” she added.
“I want to have my own home, I want to paint my walls the colors I want. I want to decide which plates I could eat with today. Those things. I didn’t have those decisions before, those choices.”
Evangelista went on to talk about another big change in her life – her controversial relationship with 43-year-old re-electionist senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero. Comparing herself to a character from a book she read a few years back, the 28-year-old actress recalled why she got attracted to Escudero.
“There’s this book I read when I was young. It’s ‘Memoirs of a Geisha.’ And when she was young, she had a crush on somebody much older. I do remember a couple [of] years ago, I saw Chiz, and I was taken aback by his presence. I think he is full of character. He’s brilliant, he’s smart. The way he talks, he’s dignified," Evangelista said of Escudero, whose marriage was annulled only last year.
“He has puppy eyes. They’re tricky – you know, they always seem like they’re serious or sad or something, but that’s what makes him so cute. I melt all the time when he looks at me.
“I get kilig all the time when he picks me up. And just the way he stands, the way he puts his hands in his pockets, or the way he laughs. I get so kilig up to this day.”
‘Not good’ for him
Not surprisingly, Evangelista believes that Escudero “has done a lot for our country,” and that “he could be somebody really great.”
She admitted that at one point in her life, she thought that she was “not good” for the 43-year-old politician, referring to his drop in pre-election surveys.
Add to that her parents’ disapproval of her relationship with Escudero, who they called a “braggart” and an “alcoholic” who is just “manipulating” their 28-year-old daughter to achieve his political goals.
“When this whole thing came out and my parents had a presscon, I was devastated, which even makes me want to cry at this point,” Evangelista said during her shoot for Esquire Philippines. “Because I really did question, that I wasn’t good for him.”
“And I told him (Escudero) that, ‘maybe I’m not good for you.’ And I know a lot of people [who] say that I’m not good for him. He just told me one thing. He said, ‘If this is what it takes to keep you and have you in my life, then I’d go for it.’
“When he said that, I just said ‘Wow.’ Power is not the only thing that’s important to this guy. Or, it’s not even important to him. He’s brave, he stands for what is right. He knows he loves me and stood by my side. I think that’s why it’s (relationship) worth fighting for,” she ended.
