MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Monday released two simple television commercials for the international rollout of the “It’s more fun in the Philippines” campaign.
The first TVC starts with the statement “We asked people why it’s more fun in the Philippines, and they answered,” followed by a collection of “It’s more fun in the Philippines” memes submitted by Internet users since the slogan was launched.
“Stargazing. More fun in the Philippines,” features different star lanterns or parol, while a horse-drawn carriage or kalesa is in the meme “Stretch Limos. More fun in the Philippines.”
Other examples feature Philippine attractions such as festivals and the country’s rich marine life.
Another TVC on the campaign singles out the Philippine tarsier, which is considered by many as the world’s smallest monkey.
Known for its huge eyes, the tarsier is featured in the meme “Staring contests. More fun in the Philippines.”
Netizens had mixed views on the two videos released by DOT on YouTube, with most of them saying that they lacked creativity and "a professional feel.”
Others, meanwhile, said that the TVCs were “nicely done.”
The local jingle for the “It’s more fun in the Philippines” campaign was released last month, also via YouTube. Unlike the international rollout, it was well-received by Filipino netizens, who called it “catchy” and “very good.”
