Century Tuna Superbods 2014: Mauro Lumba and Sara Polverini
BORACAY – Two models topped this year’s Century Tuna Superbods during the fitness contest’s finale held in the popular island destination on Saturday night.
In an interview with entertainment media after the awarding ceremony, Sara Polverini, 25, and Mauro Lumba, 21, both said they did not expect to win the challenge because everyone was determined to bag the title.
The two, however, said they are grateful that their hard work paid off.
“I’m doing this for my mom because she’s sick. Thank God binigay niya sa akin ito. Mom para sa 'yo ito. Bedridden lang siya and she can’t do anything without anyone attending to her,” said Lumba, who hails from Taguig.
For her part, Polverini said, “I was so shocked. I’m so happy to have won. Siguro mga one month before the audition, I went back na to the gym. I used to be in a girl group and I realized how important it is to be fit.”
Born to an Italian father and a Filipino mother, Polverini said her passion is really in fitness and nutrition.
“I want to inspire people out there to be the best that they can be. I joined this competition because I think it’s going to motivate me to reach my fitness goals. I used to weigh 125 pounds before... But it’s all about changing your lifestyle,” said Polverini, who comes from Iloilo.
Lumba, on the other hand, said he deserved to be named the next Superbod because “I live my life and dedicate myself to a fit and healthy lifestyle.”
Marneil Anthony Lim and Alaiza Malinao finished first runners-up, followed by Laurens Tolenars and Catherine Almirante.
