Kris Aquino’s controversial pixie cut is the latest celebrity short hairdo to make waves on the internet. She joins a growing list of celebrities rocking the bobs, pixies and apple cuts.
The short hair started as a sub-trend early 2012 with Charlene Gonzalez and was later followed by fellow beauty queens Bianca Manalo, Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup. It has since taken center stage with big names as Judy Ann Santos, Sarah Geronimo, Iza Calzado and Bianca Gonzalez chopping their tresses as well.
It now begs the question: Can everyone rock the short hair?
The “short” answer is YES!
Celebrity stylist and Philippine International Cosmetologists Association (PICA) president Lourd Ramos says virtually anyone can rock the short hair. I agree as well. Just as long as the length, style, color and layers will compliment your unique features. And of course, it should fit your personality.
The faux bob
Are you thinking of getting yourself a bob but not quite sure?
Ramos, in his Creations Salon on Pasay Road, Makati City, shows how you can try the look minus the commitment.
You will need: A hair brush, curling iron, hair mousse, hair spray and a couple of elastic bands and hair pins.
Step 1: Curl your hair and apply mousse.
Step 2: Section into three parts – back, left and right sides.
Step 3: Tie the back section into a low pony tail. Spritz some hair spray and tease hair to add volume.
Step 4: Roll your hair inward and pin this section in place to create your fake bob.
Step 5: Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the remaining sections.
Step 6: Spritz on a few more hairspray to keep the pinned areas in place.
Voila! Rock your short hair without the commitment! Tip: Let loose some stray bangs to create a softer and more natural look.
Try recreating this look and let me know how it goes. Good luck!
