MANILA, Philippines – A day after award-winning actress and Batangas governor Vilma Santos said King of Comedy Dolphy Quizon should be proclaimed National Artist, Megastar Sharon Cuneta turned to Twitter to share her views on the issue.

“I think Tito Dolphy should be proclaimed National Artist,” Cuneta said.

“They should’ve made FPJ National Artist long ago, too,” she added, referring to the late actor Fernando Poe Jr., who was proclaimed National Artist in 2006.

On Monday, Quizon admitted that he would like to be named National Artist.

The Comedy King only made it to the second round of the selection process in 2009.

The issue on who deserves to be named as National Artists was reignited after a lawmaker filed a bill urging President Benigno Aquino III, the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts to confer the award to actress Nora Aunor.

Others then expressed their opinion that Santos, Aunor’s rival in showbiz, and Dolphy also deserve the recognition.
