Question via Facebook: “What would be a great look for my graduation from UP this Sunday?”
Answer: Congratulations! You have reached a milestone in your life. And you should celebrate yourself by dressing up for this occasion.
So, what to wear? Before I answer, let me remind you that photographs from this momentous event will be viewed many times, in the many years to come. With that, it is best to go for a really classic and elegant look – something that will not look strange and out of style in the next decade or so.
A pencil cut cocktail dress paired with pumps is a flattering look for any figure. Also, it is also practical as it is easy to wear and wouldn’t bulge or deform your toga. Depending on your personality, you can opt for muted colors for a sophisticated look. Or you can opt for bold colors like royal blue, emerald green, even scarlet, for a look-at-me outfit (which is absolutely fine because you do deserve to be in the center of attention for this night). Just be careful not to overdo your accessories.
For makeup, avoid dark and heavy shadows. Select a fresher look to represent this youthful time. If possible, get airbrush makeup that will last longer especially through the lengthy ceremonies. If not, just make sure your foundation is set really well as you wouldn’t want to sweat through your makeup base and look like a melted Picasso. As for lipstick, I recommend you splurge a little and get yourself a graduation gift. A high quality, matte lipstick will last long, won’t need a lot of retouch, and will definitely come in handy for the next chapter in your life. Try MAC’s ruby woo, or Lime Crime’s Red Velvet. Cheek and lip tints from The Body Shop or Nichido are also great options.
Whatever you choose to wear, don’t forget to be yourself and enjoy your night. A confident, joyful aura will always be the best outfit you can wear.
