'Humor piece' author says sorry to Janine
MANILA, Philippines -- An open letter addressed to the former boyfriend of 2012 Miss Universe first runner-up Janine Tugonon in relation to their publicized break-up is making the rounds online.

The letter, published Wednesday on the blog of motivational speaker AJ Perez, expressed support to its addressee, "Ex ni Janine Tugonon," and referred to him as an "inspiration" to "average-looking" fellows who dream of having a "goddess of beauty" for a girlfriend.
Last Tuesday, the separation of Tugonon and her former partner Jaypee Santos went public after the 23-year-old beauty queen candidly shared that they are "not in good terms" on the morning talk show "Kris TV."
The break-up, according to Tugonon, was over The Script vocalist Danny O'Donoghue, who has been in touch with the Bataan-born beauty since the Irish band's concert in the Philippines early this year.
The open letter written by Perez -- who is described on his official Facebook page as a "lecturer, resource speaker and retreat director" -- also touched on the reason of the break-up.
It criticized Tugonon for talking at length about O'Donoghue in the presence of her former boyfriend, who appeared alongside Tugonon in the same "Kris TV" episode.
"In front of National TV, pinagmukha kang tanga. Sumakit ang dibdib ko para sa iyo habang nakatayo kang pinagmumukha kang tanga sa harap ng milyones na nanonood," the letter said.
On the subject of the supposed argument between Santos and Tugonon over O'Donoghue, the letter empathized with its addressee.
Shortly after the letter was published Wednesday, it was re-posted by several pages on social networking site Facebook, where it quickly went viral. The number of "tweets" linking to the letter has also reached a thousand.
In a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, Perez said that the "humor piece," 24 hours after it was published, already had "119,410+ readers, 22,000+ Facebook Likes and Shares, 1000+ Retweets, [and] 450+ Comments."
As of writing, the original blog already had over 35,000 "likes" and 1,066 re-tweets.
One Facebook page that re-posted Perez's letter, Philippine Pageants, in particular, gained traction in terms of viral spread. The post, separate from the writer's original blog entry, had over 10,300 likes and over 4,500 shares, as of writing.
"It was just an ordinary night when I wrote it, just one of the ordinary humor pieces I need to do for my blog," Perez said on Facebook on Thursday.
"But the results were awesome as it went viral. Thank you everyone for appreciating my work and sharing it to others to share a simple laugh. This blog author is still in shock with what happened. The numbers are too damn high...and I guess Janine Tugonon hates my guts right now. Sorry Janine," he said.
