MANILA, Philippines – Forget Boracay. For this year’s Holy Week break, several top celebrities decided to go to San Vicente in Palawan instead.
San Vicente is noted for its white sandy beaches, particularly the 14-kilometer long beach from Poblacion to Alimanguan. It also has waterfalls, dense forest cover and rich fishing ground.
According to its website, the municipality of San Vicente is “now on its way, working towards full development of tourism industry and all its other sectoral developmental pursuits.”
Actress Sharon Cuneta owns a property in San Vicente, which she plans to develop into a resort once the airport is completed.
Another celebrity who apparently owns a lot there is host and model Marc Nelson.
Among the celebrities who vacationed in San Vicente for the Holy Week are actress Ruffa Gutierrez, host and event planner Tim Yap and former beauty queen Miriam Quiambao.
“Last day in paradise,” Gutierrez tweeted on Easter Sunday. “Thank you Mayor Pie Alvarez for making our holiday in San Vicente, Palawan extra special. What a wonderful experience!”
Based on her Twitter posts, Gutierrez arrived in San Vicente on April 4 via speedboat from the port of Puerto Princesa.
Gutierrez also shared some of photos of her trip, including one that showed her island-cruising.
“It’s more fun in San Vicente,” she said.
Yap also shared his photos of the Palawan municipality.
“I am in love with San Vicente, Palawan,” Yap said in Twitter, describing the place as a “quiet and more relaxing version” of Boracay.

Quiambao certainly took the opportunity to relax.
“Quiet time. Taken this morning on the beach of San Vicente, Palawan,” she said on April 5 on Twitter.
Philippine Tatler editor-in-chief Anton San Diego, for his part, first visited the Puerto Princesa Underground River before going to San Vicente.
“After Underground River, now in San Vicente, Palawan. Had a great motorboat ride, chilling. Nice to be with friends,” San Diego said on April 4 on Twitter.
This was also the itinerary of model Fabio Ide. “So much fun today at the Underground River then riding a boat to San Vicente. Super productive and refreshing day,” he also said on Twitter.
Model and TV host Phoemela Barranda also spent the break at San Vicente, who was with fellow model Alexandra Escat.
Entrepreneur Cristalle Henares, daughter of celebrity doctor Vicki Belo, meanwhile, said she stayed at the Campari Resort in San Vicente.
“We love the Philippines and are so fortunate to enjoy San Vicente,” Henares said on Twitter, adding that she felt “like a queen.”
Many of the celebrities also attended a “white party” in San Vicente on April 6.
