MANILA - Binibining Pilipinas 2014 Supranational Yvethe Marie Santiago is determined to continue the country's winning streak in international beauty pageants.

Speaking on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," the 20-year-old Santiago said that rather than being pressured to live up to the country's wins last year, she felt reassured to have someone that can give her first-hand information regarding competitions overseas.

"I'm really focused and determined to have a back-to-back win and I'm really positive about it because I know that Mutya is always there to give me tips," she said, referring to Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul.

Datul became the first Asian and Filipino to win the crown at the 5th edition of Miss Supranational held September last year.

At first, Santiago wanted to represent the country in the Miss Universe beauty pageant, which Bb. Pilipinas Mary Jean Lastimosa won the honor to do so. "I was very vocal that I really wanted the Universe crown."

"[But] you get the same opportunity to represent the country and I'm really honored," she said.

Santiago hails from the province of Bicol, where Miss Universe 2010 4th-runner up Venus Raj and Miss International 2005 winner Precious Lara Quigaman also hail from.

Asked on what makes beauties from the province stand out, Santiago answered: "It's with the personality that all the Bicolanas, Bicolanos share. The confidence we have makes us shine because it makes you beautiful inside and it glows."
