MANILA -- One of the candidates in this year's Miss Philippines Earth fell on stage Wednesday during the pageant's first media presentation held at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
Crystal Star Aberasturi, who hails from Liloan, Cebu, was exiting the stage when she tripped and fell, to audible gasps in the audience. Dumaguete's Kim Covert, who took the stage with Aberasturi, was quick to assist her fellow candidate and pulled her up.
Aberasturi even managed to pose and smile after standing.
Held annually since 2001, Miss Philippines Earth selects the country's representative to Miss Earth. The international pageant, which was formed in the Philippines, champions environmental advocacies.
Filipina Angelee delos Reyes, who finished in the top 8 finalists of Miss Earth 2013, will crown her successor when the national pageant holds its finals night on May 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. -- with a report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News
