Bulgogi Brothers adds 7 new Korean favorites

MANILA -- Bulgogi Brothers, the fast-growing Korean restaurant chain from the Bistro Group, recently launched seven new dishes to satisfy the cravings of foodies and fans of Korean cuisine.

Just in time for the hot months, the Ginseng Chicken Soup (P395) is traditionally served during the Korean summer, as its nutritious broth is said to replace nutrients lost from summer exertions.

The soup looks fairly like the local tinola, except with red jujube fruit floating in it instead of papaya. At first sip though, you are treated to a fairly new experience, with sweetness coming from the jujube fruits (red cherries) that balances out the natural medicinal bitter taste of ginseng. The broth is silky and the chicken meat is very flavorful.

Another Korean “summer” dish, the Spicy Cold Noodles (P225) comes in a big bowl with vegetables and hard-boiled eggs. A refreshing dish, the cold noodles dressed in a sweet-sour sauce with a spiciness that hits you only at the end.

The popular Korean snack, Spicy Rice Cakes (P150), has soft and chewy rice cakes with fish cake pieces bathed in a fiery sauce, a good snack for those Lenten Fridays, or even paired with rice.

Bulgogi Brother’s version of “KFC” or Korean Fried Chicken, the Crisp Chicken Wings (P350), was in true Korean twice-cooked fried chicken fashion, with crispy breading and a sweet and spicy sauce.

As the name suggests, Bulgogi Brothers prides itself in offering authentic Korean bulgogi, with its new dishes offering new selections of meat cuts for Korean BBQ lovers.

Like the striploin steak (P695), a big serving of Angus beef, grilled table-side, perfect with rice or wrapped in lettuce. Now, if you go by the belief that bone-in meat has more flavor, the t-bone steak (P995) is a must-try for you.

The striploin and boneless short ribs combination (P995), meanwhile, is almost a combination of both, a platter featuring Bulgogi Brothers’ premium beef cuts, a large serving that can easily be shared by two to three people.

All bulgogi orders are served with six side dishes including the lettuce kimchi, sweet-spicy anchovies, pickled water spinach and their new dishes -- radish kimchi, crispy and caramelized sweet potato, and seared tofu.

In between fiery bites, sip tall glasses of its Raspberry Tea Mint (P150), or the Citrus Mint(150) which features the local calamansi. Bulgogi Brothers also has a good selection of Korean liquor, beers, and wines.

For dessert, ask for their selection of Korean ice cream. Choose from the ever popular Melona bars to the Samanco or fish-shaped red bean ice cream sandwich, or the Cookies and Cream ice cream sandwich.
