MANILA, Philippines – Fans of the musical “Dirty Dancing” here in Manila may start buying tickets for its 22-show run at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) this July, producers announced on Monday.

The stage version of the hit movie starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey will be presented at the CCP starting July 4. Ticket prices range from P1,560 to P6,240 each for weekdays, and as high as P6,750 each on weekends.

The “Dirty Dancing” musical was written by Eleanor Bergstein, who was the scriptwriter and co-producer of the successful 1897 movie of the same title.

It features all the film’s characters and original dialogue plus some extra scenes, as well as 55 songs and 73 scene changes.

“We are very excited to bring this hugely popular musical to Filipino audiences. The iconic coming-of-age film has been turned into a musical sensation which matches the film’s status. With groundbreaking sets, fabulous '60s costumes and the breathtaking dancing for which the show is renowned, Manila audiences are in for the time of their lives,” said producer James Cundall, chief executive officer of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions.

The stage version of “Dirty Dancing” has been shown in Canada, Holland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, and in different parts of the United States.
