MANILA, Philippines -- Sunshine Cruz is returning to showbiz -- and singlehood -- in a big way.
Barely a month after she announced her separation from actor Cesar Montano, her husband of 13 years, the 35-year-old actress is marking her singlehood with a comeback on men's magazine FHM.
Cruz is featured on the cover of the April 2013 issue of the popular magazine -- 13 years after she appeared as its first-ever Pinay cover girl in the same month.
On the cover, she is seen posing in a black asymmetrical swimwear.
"Actually nakaka-nerbiyos ito," Cruz was quoted as saying by FHM Philippines' official website.
"At first I couldn't imagine myself doing a sexy pictorial again. But at the same time I'd like you to know that I was really excited to do this cover," said the actress, who rose to fame for her sexy roles in the '90s.
She added, "Matagal din naman talaga akong nag-lie low, 13 years nga to be exact. I'm very honored you never stopped asking me back, kahit may tatlong kids na ako."
The actress' comeback appearance for FHM comes after her controversial split with Montano, allegedly due to a third party on the actor's part.
On Facebook, netizens praised Cruz's appearance, saying her sexy cover shoot is a strong statement about her failed marriage.
"Totoo ang kasabihan na kapag iniwan mo ang isang babae, lalo itong gumaganda at hinding-hindi mo na mababalikan pa," said Facebook user RR Beruno Gonzales.
Likewise, Gerbs De Castro commented: "Well what's new? Separations really do release the inner hotness again of a mama, pansin niyo ba?"
Cruz is also set to return to television, after 10 years of absence, via ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Dugong Buhay."
Based on the 1983 film of the same title, which was written and directed by veteran Carlo J. Caparas, the Toto Natividad-directed soap is set to air in April on ABS-CBN.
