MANILA - Actor Gabriel Macht, who is best known for his role as Harvey Specter in the hit US television series "Suits," talked about his recent visit to the Philippines in the talk show of singer Queen Latifah.

Macht arrived in the country last March 8 to visit survivors of super typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) in Ormoc, Leyte.

Appearing on "The Queen Latifah Show," Macht talked about the nation-building project Project Wonderful, which aims to grant livelihood opportunities to typhoon survivors.

"I went to Ormoc to visit the devastation of typhoon Yolanda," he said, citing his partnership with the local telecommunications firm Globe Telecom.

"There are these little stores called sari-sari stores and they're like little 7-Elevens and we give them access to prepaid phone cards and they give access to the people around," he added.

"So these small owners, small businesses, create more opportunities for them. It was really cool."

"And it's great in that we're not just throwing money at the problem. We're sort of giving them a leg up to help themselves."

After hearing Macht's story, Queen Latifah said: "Which is what most people want anyway. Check out Project Wonderful, he's doing a great job with it."
