MANILA – The world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers will take center stage to celebrate two important events on March 28 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
Dubbed as '50 and 500', the once-in-a-lifetime concert will mark the 500th birth anniversary on March 28, 2015 of St. Teresa of Avila, and at the same time commemorate the 50th founding anniversary of the Philippine Madrigal Singers.
Philippine Madrigal Singers conductor Mark Anthony Carpio said the concert will hold a matinee at 3 p.m. and a gala performance at 8 p.m.
The concert will also feature a variety of pieces, from lilting tunes to edifying ones.
Carpio added that a number of new pieces are also being arranged and will be sung for the first time during the concert.
The "50 and 500" concert is organized by the National Commission for the Celebration of the 5th Birth Centenary of St. Teresa of Avila, the first woman to be proclaimed Doctor of the Church by the Catholic Church.
