Xian Lim is new McDonald's endorser

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Xian Lim joins fellow celebrities Sharon Cuneta, Kris Aquino and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao as the latest endorser of McDonald’s.
The fast-food giant debuted its latest commercial with Lim on Saturday at a press conference.
In the TV ad to promote McDonald’s latest summer refreshments, Lim even sings the jingle, a slower arrangement of the hit song “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves.
Lim said he is thrilled to be chosen as a McDonald’s endorser. He even shared that he once won a Halloween costume contest in McDonald’s when he was a boy.
“It was very unexpected,” he said about being an endorser for the global brand. “I was actually nervous the first time we had a meeting.”
But for McDonald’s, Lim is the perfect choice since the actor “exudes positivity.”
“What we normally do is we look at the research to see who are the celebrities who are popular,” said Margot Torres, vice president for marketing and communications of McDonald’s Philippines, adding that the company was looking for a “rising star.”
“We make sure that the celebrity is consistent with our brand positioning,” Torres said.
Asked about the shoot, Lim said they shot the commercial in two days.
“Mainit nung shoot pero my hawak naman akong McDonald’s [McFloat] kaya refreshing,” he said. “It was really fun.”
Among the locations was the campus of the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila.
While McDonald’s tried to keep the identity of its latest endorser a secret, excited students of the university took to social media to report on the shoot.
Torres recalled tweets from Lim’s admirers, including one that read: “Xian, McDo ka na ba? Kasi love na kita.”
Since Lim also sings the new McDonald’s jingle, which will also be aired on various radio stations starting Monday, the actor was asked if he is also preparing to record an album soon.
“We’re still working on it,” Lim said. “Hopefully this song will be a part of it.”
Lim’s commercial is part of McDonald’s summer campaign, which centers on four new McFloat variants.
The “McFloat Summer Medley” features Honey Banana Sprite McFloat, Four Seasons Sprite Float, Green Apple Sprite Float and Lim’s favorite, the Blueberry Sprite McFloat.
These are available in regular size for P29 and monster size for P45.
McDonald’s stressed that the classic Coke McFloat will still be available.
The McFloats will also be available in snack combos – for P55, customers can get any of the new regular-size McFloat flavors with medium fries.
