J.CO donuts are now available in Manila with the opening of its first store in SM Megamall on Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines - After Krispy Kreme, another international donut chain has made its way to Manila.

J.CO Donuts and Coffee opened its first branch at the SM Megamall Megastrip on Thursday, with the first 200 people getting in line receiving a free box of donuts.

Since opening its first outlet in Indonesia in 2005, J.CO now has more than 100 branches across Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia and China.

The Philippine store was originally scheduled to open last month. But despite the delay, celebrities and foodies excitedly welcomed the new donut and coffee shop.

"I'm so happy J.CO Donuts is finally here in Manila! This one's for you! YUMM!" David Cosico, a casting director, said in a Twitter message to Karylle, who hosted the launch with Luis Manzano.

DJ Slick Rick of the popular radio show "Boys Night Out," also tweeted: "Congrats to the brand new J.CO open now in Megamall."

Signature items

J.CO is known for using premium ingredients such as Belgian chocolate, California almonds, American honey, New Zealand cheese and Japanese matcha in its products.

The chain became popular for selling Jcoccino, a donut that combines the flavor of Italian cappuccino with chocolate.

It has a beverage counterpart called the Jcoccino Freeze.

Other variants include Alcapone (donut with almonds and white chocolate), Why Nut (peanut butter-filled donut), JCrown Oreo (with Oreo bits), and J.Pops, or mini-doughnuts that come in several flavors.
