MANILA -- Social media users on Tuesday expressed various opinions on a Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ad, under its shame campaign against tax evaders, which got the ire of doctors.
BIR Commissioner Kim Henares explained that the print ad, which portrays a doctor sitting on the shoulders of a teacher, is directed at people who don't pay the right taxes and not just those in the medical profession.
On Tuesday, "TV Patrol" asked on Facebook and Twitter, "Makatotohanan nga ba ang mensahe sa ad na inilabas ng BIR, na inirereklamo ng mga doctor?"
Some netizens agreed that the message of the controversial ad is true and those who reacted are just guilty.

Meanwhile, some said the BIR ad was a poor generalization and placed the whole medical profession to shame.

Some suggested that instead of making "negative" ads, the BIR should just make an ad showing where taxes go.

Some were cool with the ad, but suggested minor changes to make it more realistic.
