Globe Telecom subscribers don't have to be logged online through their personal computers to upload photos and videos in virtual social networks Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Blogger, Picasa, and G-Blogs.

On Thursday, the mobile phone operator launched Globe Pixlink, a new service that allows its postpaid and prepaid subscribers to upload, share, and publish multimedia content online through their mobile phones.

The new feature also has a widget feature which allows users to display their content on other sites not yet supported by the service via a copy-paste HTML code.

A result of a partnership between Globe and US-based mobile software service PixSense, Globe Pixlink is specifically made for people who are constantly on the go, and for those who want to stay connected to their loved ones by keeping them posted on events as they happen.

Once an image or a video is taken, Globe Pixlink categorizes the media automatically according to the date of capture. It also provides easy uploading to a secure online account, allowing file backup, contacts-sharing and publishing to the subscriber's favorite web pages.

Globe Pixlink's biocompression technology prevents uploaded images from being downsized. Instead, the size of the photo will be reduced from 40 to 80 percent while retaining its original quality.

Users with Globe Pixlink installed in their mobile phones can view the shared photos and videos through the client. Content can also be shared via Short Messaging System (SMS) or email, with subscribers getting an SMS or an email message of a link to the sender's web page containing the video or image.

Aside from the mobile interface, Globe Pixlink can also be accessed via the internet, which offers the same features but also includes public media viewing, account management capabilities, and widget publishing.

Globe Pixlink is currently available for free (with no data storage limit) for all postpaid and prepaid subscribers until further notice. Users can register via the Globe Pixlink website (http://pixlink.globe.com.ph) or by sending PIXLINK to 2988.
