MANILA – Sorry, the Philippines will have to try again next year.

Just like in 2013, no Philippine restaurant made it to this year’s edition of the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list compiled by William Reed Business Media, which also publishes the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list as well as The Grocer and Restaurant Magazine.

Topping the 2014 list is Nahm in Bangkok, Thailand. Narisawa, which was ranked No. 1 last year, landed in second place.

Third on the list is Gaggan in Bangkok, followed by Amber (Hong Kong), Nihonryori Ryugin (Japan), Restaurant Andre (Singapore), Waku Ghin (Singapore), Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet (Shanghai, China), Lung King Heen (Hong Kong) and 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana (Hong Kong).

The rest of the Top 50 came from these countries as well as from Taiwan, India, Macau, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

According to its website, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants covers north, east, south and southeast Asia, with the entries voted for by a panel of experts on the restaurant scene in the region.
