Jazz supergroup Fourplay to perform in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - Legendary jazz quartet Fourplay will be at the Rockwell Tent in Makati City on Friday for a one-night concert.

Joining Bob James, Nathan East, Chuck Loeb and Harvey Mason at the ABS-CBN Jazz Night on February 25 are singer Mishka Adams and saxophonist Jon Irabagon.

The concert is the highlight of the Philippine International Jazz and Arts Festival (P.I. Jazzfest) which kicked off on February 3. It will run until March 2, 2011.

Now on its sixth year, the P.I. Jazzfest has also lined up performances at the Rockwell Tent by the Tierney Sutton Band (February 26), Hubert Laws with Debra Laws (February 27), and local artists Richard Merk, Jacqui Magno and Pat Castillo.

Fourplay, known to include different genres in jazz creations, has been enjoying artistic and commercial success for almost 2 decades.

The jazz quartet is said to be the only group in history to be recognized by the US Congress as distinguished members of the music industry.
