MANILA, Philippines -- After making her stage debut as the teen mermaid Ariel, Rachelle Ann Go will portray Jane in the local staging of the Broadway musical based on Disney's "Tarzan" film.
This was announced Wednesday by Viva Atlantis Theatricals, Inc., the local theater production company that will stage the musical in the Philippines starting June 14 at the Meralco Theater.

Go, a former Kapamilya singer, had her first starring role on stage in Atlantis Productions’ staging of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” in 2011.
Like the 1999 film, the stage version of Disney's "Tarzan" tells the story of a baby boy who grows up in the wild in the company of apes. The title character later discovers his identity and humanity when he meets Jane, the daughter of an English explorer.
Based on the original story by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Disney's re-telling of "Tarzan" features music by Phil Collins.
Four months ahead of the local staging of the musical, Viva Atlantis Theatricals has yet to introduce the actor who will play the title character.
"Tarzan" is among the first stage offerings of Viva Atlantis Theatricals, the joint venture between theater company Atlantis Productions and entertainment outfit Viva Communications, Inc., for its first season.
Also included in the first season of Viva Atlantis Theatricals are the local stagings of "The Full Monty" and "The Addams Family."
On Wednesday, the company presented the cast of "The Full Monty," led by singer Mark Bautista.
