MANILA, Philippines - The home of renowned healing priest Fr. Fernando Suarez in Taal, Batangas has been gathering the attention of praying Catholics and local officials since last week.

A statue of the Virgin Mary there, they say, has been crying a water-like substance that can cure various illnesses.

Devotees brought empty containers, cotton and pieces of cloth to catch the "tears" flowing from the statue.

"Sana bigyan pa ng lakas ng katawan ang aking pamilya," one of them said.

Another added, "Hinilot ako...kagabi hindi na ako uminom ng gamot. Gumaling na ako."

Some residents from neighboring barangays believe that the so-called miraculous Virgin Mary sculpture is a gift to Fr. Suarez, who celebrated his 44th birthday last February 7.

The priest, said to have healing powers, shared that the statue was given to him by a nun in the province.

Meanwhile, Fr. Suarez said that his house is open for those who want to get a glimpse of his Virgin Mary statue. --, report from Sarita Kare, ABS-CBN Batangas
