Iconic hotspot Buddha Bar Manila celebrated its second anniversary with a chic Shanghai-night-themed VIP party.

I dropped by to join the festivities filled with good food and good vibes.

Buddha Bar

Buddha Bar is a posh resto-bar and hotel brand located in Paris, Dubai, Monte Carlo and Kiev. Its global concept started in Paris and was created by restaurateur Raymond Vi?an and interior designer/DJ Claude Challe in 1996.

Their stylish designed modern Oriental establishments around the world are popularly known for Asian fusion food that go together with the nova lounge and chill-out music being played by their in-house DJs.

Buddha Bar has also been known for the billboard-charting and top-selling electronica music albums that they have been releasing since 1999

Buddha Bar opened its Manila branch at Picar Place, Kalayaan Ave., Makati City in 2012.

According to its marketing manager Arianne Aguja, Buddha Bar has been a favorite hangout of tourists and expats visiting Manila.

"Aside from the local clientele we attract, our place has become popular among foreign yuppies and wealthy tourists visiting the city. We are happy that business is growing. Tourism is booming and we see more expats coming to Manila," said Aguja.

Shanghai Nights

For its second anniversary, Buddha Bar staged a throwback to the opulent era of the 1920s-1930s Shanghai titled "Shanghai Nights."

The event gathered loyal patrons, tourists and VIPs who enjoyed a sumptuous special menu and overflowing cocktails.

I loved munching on their Salade Napoleon made of layers of Crispy Wonton Skin and Citrus Melange. The dish really went well with the free-flowing Grey Goose cocktails and Manny O wines they served us.

Georgina Wilson welcomed everyone to the party and introduced some international DJs who performed for the occasion.

The highlight of the night was a pumped-up performance by international DJs, Carlos Campos and Nicholas Schaud.

I really enjoyed the Carlos Campos set that started with an awesome Latin and Disco Chillhouse beat. His salsa Latin grooves drew the people onto the dance floor. Carlos Campos is also a familiar name known for producing various tracks included in many of the Buddha Bar CDs.

The night culminated with the most awaited grand prize draw for the Drink, Dine and Drive promo that gave away a luxurious Jaguar XF 2014 to a very lucky winner!

Buddha Bar Manila's 2nd anniversary was an excellent way to welcome the Lunar New Year with good luck and opulence. It's also nice to know that the Manila scene is alive with the best establishments that tourists and locals can continue to enjoy.
