MANILA – Bartenders from 11 of Manila’s hottest hangouts have joined the Philippine edition of the Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year 2014, with the winner set to compete in the international finals.
The 11 participating bartenders are Christopher Bayon of Black Sheep, Joma Rivera of The Curator, Ernie Andog of EXIT Bar, Albert Salvador of Las Flores, Erad Joseph Adriano of Museum Café, Eduardo Yonzon of Niner Ichi Nana, Jerry Miranda of Prive Luxury Club, Samuel Alcantara of Prohibition Liquor Lounge, Rian Asiddao of Raffles Long Bar, Syrian Ebdane of Sofitel Philippine Plaza, and Alyona Jeffery of Speakeasy.
“World Class brings together the best and most talented around the globe and this year, we are proud to have gathered 11 of Manila’s best bars and bartenders for the competition,” said Marie Ona, reserve luxury manager for Diageo Philippines.
“This stellar lineup represents the thriving cocktail culture that we have in the Philippines… We really wanted to put the spotlight on these bartenders and show the rest of the world the talent they possess,” Ona added.
During the launch of the competition last January 22, guest bartenders Erwan Heussaff, Tim and G Tongi Walters prepared cocktails for guests to enjoy. Also present at the event was World Class 2013 Bartender of the Year winner Allan King Roxas, and World Class Brand Ambassador for Southeast Asia Hannah Walters.
This year’s Philippine round of the competition will be held until May. The winner here will be sent to the Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year Finals, where he or she will compete with 49 hopefuls from different parts of the globe.
