MANILA - It seems that everything is well between American talk show host Steve Harvey and reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
Harvey caused quite a stir at the coronation night of the Miss Universe 2015 pageant when he mistakenly announced that Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutierrez had won, which left Wurtzbach devastated for a few minutes before learning she actually won.
Weeks after the unfortunate yet still memorable pageant night, Wurtzbach and Harvey were reunited in the latter's show.
In an episode of "Steve Harvey" aired Monday (U.S. time), the American TV personality asked Wurtzbach how she felt standing next to Gutierrez when the crown was taken back from the Colombian beauty queen.
"I tried to keep a safe distance from her as not to disrespect her. I didn't want her to feel bad," Wurtzbach told Harvey.
The Filipina beauty queen explained that she was thrilled she won, but was still mindful of her Colombian colleague's feelings.
"I was being sensitive to her feelings. When I was standing there, I was very happy that I won. I was excited. But I was also thinking about her. I couldn't help but think about how tough this must be for her," Wurtzbach quipped.
Harvey expressed how terrible he felt after the announcement controversy. The TV host said he was looking forward to talking to both Wurtzbach and Gutierrez to apologize for the mix-up.
"I am looking forward to talking with (Gutierrez) because I felt horrible for both of you. There is so much I wanna say. I am truly sorry. I wish we could all have got it right that night. I want you to know that," Harvey said.
However, Wurtzbach told Harvey to move on from the unfortunate incident.
"You, too, Steve, don't beat yourself up with this anymore. Let's move forward. Let's be happy," Wurtzbach told the American TV host and comedian.
Harvey certainly had nothing but nice words for Wurtzbach, whom he thought was a "class act."
"I want some healing to be done, for you and for Miss Colombia. I want that more than anything. Thank you for coming. I thought you were absolute class act. Absolute class act," Harvey told Wurtzbach.
Gutierrez was set to sit down with Harvey for an interview to be aired Tuesday.
