MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) and the University of Santo Tomas Entrance Test (USTET) were top of mind for Internet-using Filipinos last week as high school students await the results of the college exams, Google Philippines said.

Data from the local unit of the Internet search giant showed that USTET was the most searched topic in the country from January 6 to 12, while UPCAT ranked third.

Results of the USTET will be released on Wednesday, January 18, while the UPCAT results will reportedly be out by next month.

"Pass or fail was the dilemma of a lot of Pinoy high school students this week as they anticipate the results of the USTET and UPCAT," Google Philippines said in a statement.

Last week, there was an online tussle between students of UST and UP on the difficulty of their respective schools' entrance exams, causing the topic to become a local trending topic on Twitter.

It all started with a post on the unofficial UPCAT Facebook page which read: "Lumabas na pala ang results ng USTET, walang thrill kasi madali lang naman nun. Last week pa ng February ang results ng UPCAT -- walang kasing hirap kaya sulit ang paghihintay."

While some people continued to argue over the virtues of their respective schools, others made snide remarks about Internet trolls and online "nega" or troublemaking.

UST and UP are considered as two of the top universities in the country, as well as the Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University, which recently released the results of their college entrance examinations.

In the 2011/2012 World University Rankings of London-based education and career network Quacquarelli Symonds, UP ranked 332nd, followed by Ateneo (360th), La Salle (551-600 bracket) and UST (601+ bracket).

Meanwhile, Hollywood film "Bourne Legacy" ranked second on Google Philippines' list of most searched topics. The fourth movie in the "Bourne" series generated interest from Filipinos after it was reported that parts of the film will be shot in the country.

Other top topics last week include the Sinulog festival, which kicked off last weekend; and ABS-CBN programs "PBB Unlimited" and "My Binondo Girl."
