Live action ‘Toy Story’ goes viral
MANILA, Philippines – A live action version of the well-loved Pixar movie “Toy Story” made by two fans using real toys has become the newest Internet sensation.
The one-hour-20-minute film, a shot-for-shot recreation of “Toy Story,” started production in late June 2010 by Jonason Pauley, then 17, and Jesse Perrotta, then 18, according to the project’s Facebook page.
More than two years later, the finished film was uploaded last January 12 on video-sharing site YouTube where it has now received nearly 3 million views.
Pauley and Perrotta are self-confessed fans of the movie, they said in an interview with the website of entertainment magazine Entertainment Weekly.
The two filmmakers said they told Pixar about their project via tweets and videos and even gave a copy of the movie personally last January 8.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Pixar declined Pixar to comment on “fan-inspired clips or sites.”
However, “Toy Story 3” director Lee Unkrich took note of the movie in his Twitter account. “Live action Toy Story (re)made by some VERY dedicated guys,” Unkrich tweeted, then provided a link to the video.
