MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Bea Alonzo sheds her wholesome image and more, appearing in a swimsuit on the cover of the January 2012 issue of Metro magazine with boyfriend actor Zanjoe Marudo.
This is the first time the actress agreed to do a sexy magazine pictorial, although she wore a two-piece swimsuit in the 2009 movie "And I Love You So."
In an interview with the magazine, Alonzo said she has grown more confident although she still felt uneasy at first during the shoot with ace lensman Xander Angeles, who has shot numerous sexy covers for various men's magazines.
"The revealing outfits and swimwear... she is to don throughout the shoot flaunt her more obvious assets -- the nice gams (even when Bea thinks they still need firming up), the now-more defined torso, the pronounced bosom," the article read.
In her editor's note, executive editor Michealle Torres described Alonzo as a "truly inspiring woman who has battled plenty of issues (body included)."
According to the magazine, Alonzo credited her slimmer figure to the Cohen diet, which limited her food intake to only three 110-gram meals a day for the first 17 days. Alonzo also shared that she prefers boxing to gym workouts and has also taken up Zumba, a Latin-inspired dance fitness program.
She also said she regularly plays golf and badminton with Marudo.
The January issue of Metro is also the magazine's annual "body issue." Apart from Alonzo and Marudo, the magazine also features sexy photographs of the siblings Daniel Matsunaga and Vanessa Matsunaga-Sunga; socialite Divine Lee and model Victor Basa; football player Armand del Rosario and members of the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation Team.
