MANILA – Remember Marian Labanon, the young vegetable vendor who was dubbed as the look-alike of Kapamilya star Liza Soberano?
Labanon, also known among netizens as “gulay girl,” was recently given a makeover.
Host Korina Sanchez visited Labanon’s home in Olongapo for an episode of the ABS-CBN show “Rated K” aired on Sunday.
Labanon said she wants to join show business to help her family.
“Gusto ko pong magpasaya ng mga tao at gusto ko ring ipakita ‘yung talent ko. Gusto ko rin pong makatulong sa pamilya ko,” she said.
(I want to make people happy. I want to show them my talent. I also want to help my family.)
Labanon’s parents have expressed support for the 13-year-old’s showbiz dreams, hoping that the social media attention will be able to change her life for the better.
“Gusto ko pong makatapos siya ng pag-aaral para mabago naman po ang buhay niya (I want her to finish school so her life would change),” said Labanon’s mother, Marilou.
Aside from school supplies, seeds and other items, “Rated K” also provided Labanon with a makeover inspired by Soberano’s look in this year’s Star Magic Ball.
