The rest of the 69 candidates showcased facets of their respective cultures, such as the candidate from Australia who wore a gown resembling the Sydney Opera House.
The Miss International 2017 competition is still ongoing in Tokyo, Japan, and is being streamed live on the pageant’s website.
It took De Leon two tries in Binibining Pilipinas before getting the opportunity to represent the Philippines in Miss International.
The daughter of screen veterans Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong is hoping for a back-to-back win for the Philippines. Her predecessor, Kylie Verzosa, is the reigning titleholder.
