Philippines places third in World Robot Games

SINGAPORE - The Philippines finished third in the 2017 World Robot Games here that ended on Saturday with 24 medals, including 10 golds.

Thailand was overall champion while host Singapore placed second. One hundred twenty-five students from 21 schools in the Philippines took part in the 2-day games.

Filipino students Angel Ken Young, Justin Aaron Natividad and Joseph Dulay each won a gold medal in the sumobot or droid wrestling category.

The country's 7 other golds were in the innovative categories where teams had to design and build autonomous machines for security and counterterrorism.

The Philippines will host the 2018 World Robot Games.
