MANILA – Teresita Marquez is the first Filipina and Asian to compete in the Latina-dominated Reina Hispanoamericana pageant.
And despite venturing into unfamiliar territory, she won the title.
Marquez, known to many as Winwyn or Wyn, still could not believe that she was able to deliver on her promise of a crown for the Philippines.
In an Instagram post shortly after her victory, she wrote: “Hindi ako makapaniwala. Totoo ito, di ba? Maraming, maraming salamat.”
Marquez bested 26 other beauties in Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 held in Bolivia over the weekend.
She also won several special awards.
An actress and dancer in the Philippines, Marquez is the daughter of screen veterans Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno, and the niece of former Miss International Melanie Marquez.
