MANILA - Here are some of the events, activities, and promotions you can check out this weekend. 

1. Trikini 2017

When: August 19
Where: McKinley West Park

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls and GEO Events Management are inviting runners and cyclists across Metro Manila to join Trikini 2017. 

Trikini is an urban fitness party that will feature three basic elements – run, bike, and party – in a safe and exclusive venue. Participants may arrive in their sports, active or breach wear so they can comfortably join the various activities in the lineup. 

Ticket prices are P1,650 (Lite Pass) and P2,650 (Deluxe

2. New exhibitions at Lopez Museum and Library

When: August 19
Where: Meralco Ave, San Antonio, Pasig City 

The Lopez Museum and Library is opening two new exhibitions before the institution moves into its new interim home at Rockwell Business Center Sheridan in the first quarter of 2018.

The two new exhibitions, "The Given Order" and "What do I Say to a Giant," will have their opening reception on Saturday at 4 p.m., and will be open to the public on August 22.

Where: Robinsons Novaliches

Robinsons Novaliches, in cooperation with the Art Association of Novaliches and Puno Art Gallery, is hosting "BAYANi JUAN ART EXHIBIT" as part of the Buwan ng Wika celebration. 

The exhibit features works of Filipino artists such as August Santiago, Roi Espinosa, Chito Ignacio, Manny Buñag, Viel Samaniego, Jun Tayao, Arnel Danga, Norman Cristobal, Wilfredo Rupon, Giovanni dela Rosa, Mardonio Cempron, and Des Inosanto. 

The exhibit will also have an on-the-spot poster making contest for high school students carrying the theme "Quezon City and the Millennial Heroes" where the winners get their works featured in the exhibit. 

Other prizes at stake include medals and gift certificates worth P1,000 for the 3rd placer; P1,500 for the 2nd placer; and P2,000 for the 1st placer.

4. The Picnic

When: August 20
Where: Makati Shangri-La, Manila

Makati Shangri-La brings back The Picnic, a big Sunday brunch that will bring back the signature dishes of Inagiku, Sage Bespoke Grill, and Shang Palace. 

Apart from enjoying their favorite dishes, attendees will also get close and personal with the people behind our delicious meals: Chef Hikawa of Inagiku, Chef Eric of Sage Bespoke Grill, and Chefs Andy Leung and Ben Lam of Shang Palace.

5. Ballet Philippines' 'A Gala Celebration'

Where: CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo

For its 48th season, Ballet Philippines revives choreographic gems in this gala featuring Filipino stars from various international dance companies. 

Among the guest artists are Candice Adea (formerly of BalletMet and Hong Kong Ballet), Marcelino Libao (Hamburg Ballet), 
Kris-Belle Paclibar, Ronelson Yadao (formerly of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre), Paul Ocampo & Chien-Ying Wang (OcampoWang Dance), and Jean Marc Cordero & Rita Angela Winder (Ballett Kiel).

This production also marks the return of Alice Reyes, National Artist for Dance, as the company’s Artistic Director.

6. The Glitter Trap

Where: Circuit Makati

Rer is giving everyone another chance to catch their magical musical masterpiece as "The Glitter Trap" holds a weekend run. 

Starring a young and talented cast, all aged 11 to 17, Repertory Philippines' The Glitter Trap is based on Barbara Brauner and James Iver Mattson’s young adult novel of the same title.

7. Kandama Breakthrough

When: August 19
Where: Green Sun Hotel, Makati City 

Check out some of the country's best textiles as Kandama holds its official launch on Saturday. 

Kandama is a social enterprise that seeks to empower the struggling communities in Ifugao with the collective efforts of master weavers, contemporary designers, and social entrepreneurs.

Collaborators for the event include celebrated fashion designer John Rufo, shoe designer Rani Tolentino, furniture designer Joco Calimlim, Singaporean social enterprise Nomad, Malaysian fashion label Airaz, JCI Manila members Mark Escay and Engineer LA Sevilla, and Ibarra watches by Francisco Moreno. 

Celebrities and other well-known personalities are also invited as guests.

8. Beginnings Bridal Showcase

Where: Crimson Hotels Filinvest City Manila

Crimson Hotels Filinvest City Manila invites couples to start their fairy-tale journey as husband and wife at the Beginnings Bridal Showcase on Saturday. 

The day-long affair shines a spotlight on every major detail needed for a dream wedding, inspiring visitors with exhibits of themed celebrations. There will be a fashion show by renowned designer Francis Libiran, in partnership with Wedding Essentials Magazine.

9. A Parenting Festival 

When: August 20
Where: Shangri-la Mall East 

Wanna learn more about parenting? Join The Parenting Festival on Sunday, and learn life hacks and tips from expert moms. 

At 4 p.m. Niña Corpuz will have a soft launch of her book, "How To Raise a Superstar" published by ABS-CBN, alongside Developmental Pediatrician Dr. Francis Dimalanta.

Celebrity moms Mickey Ferriols and Nikki Valdez will also talk about "Pursuing Your Passion... Beyond Motherhood" and "How to Encourage Your Child To Pursue Her Passion," respectively.
