While he has lost his eyesight, Angelo Brian Peliño thrives as an online writer, making a living while also encouraging others like him to never give up on their dreams.

DAVAO CITY - Angelo Brian Peliño, 23, has been blind for 12 years.
He is also afflicted with a hearing impairment. But his condition did not hinder him from fulfilling his dream.

"Its just themselves they have to deal with. Kung hindi mo kikilalanin ang sarili mo at kaya mong gawin, mahihirapan ka," he said.

Angelo finished a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2015. But finding a job proved to be more challenging for him, which is why he used his talent in writing to land a job.

Angelo has been an online writer for about two years and earns P2,500-3,500 per week, or about P14,000 every month.

Aside from his online job, he also has a blog that tackles his condition and promotes the appropriate treatment of the blind community.

Through a screen reader software, Angelo Brian can easily use his laptop and cellphone.

His mother, Vilma, is proud of him. She said her son was born premature with sensitive eyes.

She bared that when Angelo was 10, his eye was poked by his playmate, and when he was 12, his other eye was punched by his brother, resulting in his total blindness.

"Naningkamot siya para sa iyang sarili bisan sa iyahang kakulangan mas nauna pa siya nakadawat sa sitwasyon kaysa sa akoa," Vilma said.

(He is working very hard despite his condition, he accepted his condition first before I did.)

Brian hopes to inspire others who are in the same situation as he is and to encourage them to never give up and reach their goals.

"I want to help [other] PWDs (persons with disabilities) to understand. I really love writing. I can't help it. Binigyan ko lang ng laya ang sarili ko," he said.
