MANILA -- Looking for events to check this weekend? Here are some of the activities near you. 

1. "Caredivas"

Where: The PETA Theater Center

The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) have teamed up for this special run of "Caredivas" as a tribute to OFWs who are considered to be the present-day heroes of our country. 

"Caredivas" is a musical drama about five gay OFWs in Israel who work as caregivers in the morning and transform into glamorous drag queen performers at night.

Performances on Fridays (8 p.m.), and Saturdays and Sundays (3 p.m. and 8 p.m.). For inquiries and ticket reservations, contact PETA at [email protected] or TicketWorld at www.ticketworld.com.ph.

2. "Inhabit"

When: June 25, 6 p.m. 
Where: District Gallery, West Avenue, Quezon City

Arts and performance company Artist Playground District Gallery is opening District Gallery, a newly organized art gallery that aims to inspire, engage, excite and connect people through contemporary art.

The gallery is holding an inaugural show titled "Inhabit." This will feature creative works and interpretations of Mideo Cruz, Raquel de Loyola, Jes Aznar, Cian Dayrit, Buen Abrigo, Frances Abrigo, Cheese, Archie Oclos and Nasser Lubay.

3. "Figura Filipina ATBP"

When: June 19-July 2
Where: Robinsons Town Mall Malabon

“Figura Filipina ATBP” is an art exhibit featuring the works of the Art Association of Malabon headed by chairman August Santiago along with other artists, such as Nemi Miranda and Mike Pastorizo. The featured artists used acrylic and oil as their medium. 

4. MCA artists in Robinsons

Where: Forum Robinsons, Mandaluyong 

“The Voice Kids” alumni Edray Teodoro, Kyle Echarri, Noel Comia Jr. and LA Voice Singing Contest winner Mika Gorospe are set to perform live at Forum Robinsons this weekend. 

During their performances, Comia will launch his newest music video "The Show," while Echarri will launch his music video "Our Moment."

5. "Toruk: The First Flight"

Where: SM Mall of Asia Arena

Cirque du Soleil is returning to Manila for the grand Asian premiere of its new show "Toruk: The First Flight." 

The show is inspired by James Cameron’s movie "Avatar," which broke box-office records when it was shown in the Philippines in 2009. 

"Toruk: The First Flight" is a mythical tale set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film “Avatar” and before any humans ever set foot in Pandora.

6. "Bazooka Rocks V: A Pop Punk Weekend"

Where: SM North EDSA Skydome

Bazooka Rocks returns to Manila with two days of pop punk madness. The Maine headlines the first night on Saturday (8 p.m.) by bringing their "Lovely Little Lonely World Tour" to Manila. Meanwhile, the State Champs’ first-ever Manila show headlines the second night with Cambridge and With Confidence at 6:30 p.m.

7. Lang Leav's "Sad Girls Tour"

Where: SM City Cebu and Glorietta 1

Acclaimed poet and bestselling author Lang Leav is returning to the country for her "Sad Girls Tour."

There will be book signing sessions at the The Northwing Atrium, SM City Cebu on Saturday at 12 noon and at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center Palm Drive on Sunday at 12 noon. 

Registration will start at 10 a.m. First come, first served.

8. "RUNRIO Trilogy"

Where: Okada Manila

RUNRIO Trilogy is back and its first leg will be hosted by Okada Manila.

10. Spark Fest 2017

11. Jeremy Passion Live in the Philippines 2017

MAS Presents brings back YouTube star Jeremy Passion for a one-night-only show. 

Passion was one of the first Asian-Americans to go viral online with his smash hits, "Lemonade," "Well Done," and acoustic covers "So Sick," "Ordinary People," and "Cater 2 U."

12. Globe Volcanoes Junior Rugby Clinics

13. Live to Move fitness party

FWD is launching the Live to Move health and wellness program with a fun and energy-packed fitness party. Jim and Toni Saret will be leading the workout program centered around the four-minute metabolic fitness (metafit) routine, the FWD Motion. The program starts at 5 p.m., and event registration is free.

“We invite everyone to join us as we continue spreading the word about the FitFil National Weight Loss Challenge with FWD’s Live to Move fitness party on June 24,” Jim Saret said. “We guarantee it will be a fun-filled and different experience, with various activities such as zumba, hip-hop, TRX, kickboxing, and cardio, among others.”
