MANILA -- A Fil-American beauty is among the contestants hoping to win this year's Miss USA crown.
Philippine-born Raquel Wellentin is representing the state of North Dakota in this year's competition.
According to her profile in the Miss USA website, Wellentin is a fitness coach and a student at the North Dakota State University.
The 24-year-old is also an advocate for women's health and empowerment, children’s education and eliminating racism.
Wellentin is aiming to succeed Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber. The pageant airs Sunday (US time) from Las Vegas, Nevada.
