MANILA – Award-winning furniture designer Ito Kish has announced that his 500-square-meter namesake showroom in Makati City will soon close.
On his website, Kish said he wants to “take a few months off” to complete ongoing interior design projects, spend time with family and pursue other hobbies such as cooking.
“I am announcing that the Ito Kish showrooms will officially close its doors on May 22, 2017. After this date, you will find the Ito Kish pieces online, which will remain open for business,” he wrote.
Kish went on to share that all of the items in his store will be discounted by up to 50% beginning May 13.
“Will I be reopening my shop anytime in the future? Somehow, given how much I love retail and design. I am sure of it. But now is not the time to be talking of the future. My goal as I take this break is to just live in the present,” he said.
“I’ll be in touch.”
Kish is known for his award-winning Georgia lounge chair, which is inspired by wooden balusters found at vintage Filipino houses during the Spanish period.
He also designed the tokens given to the spouses of leaders who visited the Philippines for the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
