CEBU CITY – Low-cost carrier AirAsia has once again teamed up with TV host Daphne Oseña-Paez for another season of “RedTalks,” a series of web episodes that aim to inspire and empower.
The second season was recently launched at a press gathering at Bai Hotel in Cebu with AirAsia Philippines chairperson Maan Hontiveros, AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer and captain Dexter Comendador, and AirAsia Foundation executive director Mun Ching Yap.
One of the episodes in the web series is all about women empowerment, which Hontiveros has been championing before assuming leadership in AirAsia’s operations in the country.
“Being a woman [in the company] is never an issue,” said Hontiveros, who was named by the Filipina Women’s Network as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World – Builder Award Category in 2014.
“One thing that would make you proud [is] our team, our staff, we have a very flat organization,” added the former CEO of AirAsia Philippines. “We’re not too conscious about titles. Our offices are all open spaces. You can see Capt. Dexter in one corner, you can just walk up to him if you have a problem.”
The latest season of “RedTalks” also promises to feature food, culture, and topics such as arts education and human trafficking.
“Sometimes, the last friendly face that someone who is trafficked will see is the one of our ground staff or our cabin crew,” Yap said. “So once they arrive at their destination, they could be lost forever.”
“We want to be a part of the net that could save them.” – Report from Charlie Salceda in Cebu
