MANILA – “It isn’t alright.”
Dominique Cojuangco took a stand against body shaming after many netizens commented about her weight in her recent video for the local fashion website Preview.
“I head over to the video to find comments like ‘chubby’ and ‘diet lang.’ For a second, I thought that it was fine. I was raised in a loving environment that allows me to not be bothered by unsolicited remarks,” the socialite and vlogger said.
“However, it isn’t alright and it really isn’t about me. None of us should tolerate body shaming or shaming of any sort!” Cojuangco continued.
“Let’s not deem this as ‘normal’ – there’s space for change.”
She went on to encourage the public to “be the type of people that lift each other’s spirits… whether you’re less than a size 0 or over a size 12.”
A budding fashion designer, Cojuangco is the daughter of businessman Tonyboy Cojuangco and actress Gretchen Barretto, and cousin of Kapamilya star Julia Barretto.
In 2015, she represented the Philippines in Le Bal des Débutantes, which is considered one of the biggest high society fashion events in the world.
