6 dishes to try on meatless Friday

MANILA – These restaurants in Metro Manila prove that going meatless this Lenten season doesn’t have to be boring.

Here are six meat-free dishes that you can try:

1. Fish Queso at TGIFridays

For something filling but light, TGIFridays offers Fish Queso (P295), a fresh-tasting fish chunk cooked in a special Fridays cheese sauce. The mild taste of fish, perfectly balances with the tangy, savory cheese base. 

This dish is part of TGIFridays' recently launched “3+1” Weekday Lunch promo. Order three items from the “Let’s Do Lunch” menu and get one dish for free weekdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until March 9. 

2. BBQ Stingray with Laksa Rice at James & Daughters by Le Jardin

This Malaysian-inspired dish is served with laksa rice, spicy sambal, and a green mango salad to temper the heat.

3. Lava Pizza at Pizza Express

This pizza has a tomato sauce base and is topped with olives, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil leaves, and dried herbs and spices.

4. Shrimp with Puso ng Saging at LUMU Beerhouse

Chef Luigi Muhlach combines puso ng saging, coconut cream, and shrimp to create this dish, which is a tasty option for those who do not eat red meat.

5. Spicy Noodles at Fyre

Pancit canton is tossed in garlic, oil, and chilies, then topped with an oyster omelette and sandwiched in a brioche bun to create this interesting meat-free dish.
